I just got back from a 3-day exploration of the Salton Sea. You can’t help but think about the water story and its politics in California. From Mono Lake to the Salton Sea, our landscape is forever changed by the growth of our cities and agriculture. It is balancing act, but in the meantime, it makes for darned interesting photography.

Great picture! I remember going to the Salton Sea not long ago with my girlfriend. We parked by the side of the road and walked towards the water. As the desert gave way to beach, we realized that the pebbles under our shoes weren’t sand. Beneath our feet were the crushed bones of dead fish. Fish skeletons were strewn all over the beach like litter. I write a blog which covers the wildlife in this local area The story of water out here is complicated, but very interesting. I used to cover a local water district and was surprised at the fierce debate surrounding issues.

Very nice and a bit freaky shot.

Got any more? Love the gritty-post-apocalyptic-look!

Darrel, I do have more (what do you think). In fact, I’m hoping for a whole series. There are a few more on my Flickr site, but others waiting for me to process.

BaazaH, looking forward to reading your post. It is quite an interesting place from sublimely beautiful at the south to incredibly decayed on the north-east.
