Curved Waves

Last summer the local photography club visited the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles to soak in the exhibits and get a few photos. The museum is a fairly modern building and sits on a tall hill off the 405 freeway. The architecture is all about patterns and shapes and somewhat stark. While there I knew I was going to get a bunch of dry images and was thinking B&W a good part of the day. I had processed some of these images but in my state of mind last summer the dryness did not seem all that inviting to me.

This past week, I’ve been working on a presentation as part of a composition challenge series for the local photography club on Rhythm and Repetition. These presentations are intended to give the club members some introduction to the compositional subject. I though I’d revisit my Getty images to see what examples I could find. That’s how rediscovered this image. I reprocessed the B&W in Silver Efex Pro which I’m liking more and more. The secret of this one was to reduce the brightness and add a touch of structure to the marble floor.
